“Goodwill Week-ends”
Event
B100 / Goodwill Week-ends
Date/Time
Now through December 11, 2011
Location
All Goodwill Industries of Michiana Stores
(South Bend, IN / November 15, 2011) – B100 and Goodwill are partnering with you to help our community. “Goodwill Week-ends” give us a chance to remind you to clear the clutter and donate your gently used clothing and household items. We all know how harsh the winter months can be in our area. Most of us just want to hibernate until spring! Unfortunately, that means Goodwill’s donations decrease significantly. We’re asking you to donate now, so they can warehouse these items to provide productive work for their employees in January, February and March until spring when donations typically pick up again.
When your donations are sold in their stores, the money they generate funds programs to help even more people in our community. Goodwill does receive some funding from federal and state programs, but it is not enough to cover the job training and other services that it provides. When an individual gets a job, Goodwill stays in touch with both the employee and employer to assure success. That takes time and resources.
Goodwill’s mission is to provide jobs, training and placement services for people with barriers to employment. Over 5,000 individuals received training through Goodwill programs last year.
So, remember Goodwill this week-end – it’s time to clear the closets and take your gently used clothing and household items to a Goodwill near you! You can even bring those dusty computers – working or not – from the basement or your place of business. Goodwill’s partnership with Dell offers free responsible recycling for computers and printers. You’ll get a tax receipt for your donation and that good feeling that you’ve helped someone in our community.
